JAMES ISLAND YOUTH SOCCER CLUB
JUNIOR ACADEMY PROGRAM
James Island Youth Soccer Club Junior Academy Program
JIYSC’s Junior Academy Program is designed to support and guide players who wish to make the transition from recreational to competitive soccer. We focus on holistic development to support each person's soccer journey.
The most important aspect of JIYSC’s Junior Academy Program is training. Based on the US Soccer Curriculum, technical and tactical training is provided and delivered age appropriately and will differ based on age.
Our mission of the Junior Academy program is to create an environment of player development from the most important early ages (7-12). All training and games will focus on learning, creativity, problem solving, and FUN to meet the demands of the individual players of this age. The JIYSC Junior Academy program is directed toward talented and enthusiastic young players and serves as a link between the Recreation program and the competitive Academy Select program. The focus will be on individual development over team success.

The Coastal Premier League
JIYSC Junior Academy teams compete in local competition in the fall and spring seasons. The Coastal Premier League (CPL) is focused on youth soccer development in the Lowcountry, offering age and skill appropriate competition at ages U8-U12 for its member clubs and along the coast of South Carolina.
The CPL Focuses on…
- Development over winning – 7v7 at U8/U9/U10, and 9v9 at U11/U12 allows for improved player development more touches on the ball
- Minimum standard for coaches and facilities
- Clubs to have a Director of Coaching with minimum USSF B License
- Regional games played against opposition based on geographical location
- Each full participating club assigned a seat on the Board of Directors
- Three pronged evaluation system for clubs controlled by the B.O.D – Self Analysis, Peer Review and “Third Party” review
- Regular meetings and communications between D.O.C’s
- Recommended playing times for players
